Linkbloggin

My daily RSS reading tends to involve reading blogs of friends (usually only 2 or so posts a day across all of my friends), read daily tech news from places like techcrunch and valleywag, read a little bit of comic book news, and glance through a bunch of everything else across the 167 feeds that I subscribe to (most of which are only 1 or 2 posts a week). Mostly, I use FeedDemon, which has the concept of groups of bookmarks called News Bins. Every so often, I try and clean these out and do a post, but I thought that there must be a better way. After some searching, I found a old post on the subject that contained a link to a style file to turn the display for a news bin into a plain list of links that you can then copy and paste wherever you want to. From that, comes the following links. Enjoy

More Cowbell

I saw this on a blog the other day and immediately thought of Chris.

+ /_\ = the emoticon for More Cowbell.

“I got a fever. And the only prescription…is more cowbell!”

10 Commandments Remixed

I found this by way of some blog reading the other day and thought people might find a YouTube video based on The 10 Commandments kind of funny.

Really specific movie genres

I was flipping through a really thick movie guide in the breakroom at work (I was waiting for a hot pocket to heat up … yum … hot pockets), and I ended up looking through the genre section. I decided to look and see if there was a Time Travel section. Sure enough, there was a fairly substantial time travel section. What was odd was that at the top of the listing there was a reference that said

I wondered if this was overkill, so I went to the listing and discovered that there were in fact 17 movies that fell into the subgenre. Who would’ve thought?

Tables are so 2002

Recently, I’ve been playing around with CSS and structured XHTML as a part of reworking this blog and keeping up with “web stuff”. Therefore, I’ve been eagerly anticipating CSS Reboot Spring 2006. It’s mostly a bunch of people who think that HTML should be valid, well formed, and styled using CSS that decided to update their web sites, blogs, etc. and unveil them today. If you’re a fan of this sort of thing (and how could you not be), I’d recommend going over to the reboot site and visiting whatever sites catch your eye. Since I’ve been trying to figure out the design of the zibblog, I had a lot of fun browsing through and picking up ideas for various features and styles of blogs. One of my favorites (and a blog that I enjoy reading), is If..Else which you should really take a look at.
