For all of those people living vicariously through my love life (I feel sorry for any of you) or for those just intrigued by the oddness of it, I figured I give the results of the run with Stacey. The run went pretty well, but somehow as we were talking afterwards, the topic turned to how she wasn’t interested in dating anyone right now. I guess I’ll just have to keep running with her and see if I grow on her (perhaps like a fungus).

OK, so this reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine visiting from Hollywood. There all discussion revolve around social interactions and movies, so he was sharing the currently brewing debate about the “friend zone”. Evidently there were those advocating the theory that a man has a limited opportunity to turn an initial interaction into a romantic one before he enters the “friend zone”. Supposedly at this point the conversation turns to other guys the woman is dating, how many calories are in different types of food, and watching television shows together. If you should ever broach the topic of a romantic relationship from this zone the response is, “I’d never want to ruin the great friendship we have.”
You’ll be glad to know that after much debate down South supposedly the consensus is that this is a dangerous area of limbo to be stuck in, but that there are “conversion” plays available. However, I am told that this never happens without an active game plan. I’ll be curious to hear whether anything kept on low heat at the back of the stove ever starts to boil ;-)

That’s an interesting point. With this situation, the goal is to never enter the land of “friend”. The idea is to skirt the “friend zone” through the area of “running partner zone” while staying somewhere around “acquaintance zone”. With my other situation, my belief is that we never entered the “friend zone”. That one is in “just friends zone” which is a shared euphemism for “backup plan zone” or “drag Zibbler around by his balls zone”.
Anyway, thanks for the input. Always appreciated. :)
